I wanted to do a super-detail project and decided on this
plane. The cockpit and belly interior is big enough to
detail but not overwhelming. I cut away a section of the
port fuselage to expose the inside. With good reference, I
used a PE set and scratch-building to complete the entire
interior. I left the port side turret glass off to show that
detail as well. The finish is Model Master acrylics with a
light gray wash. The panel fading and shade variations
were airbrushed with toned paint and accented with
pastels. Oil and grime streaking was done with pastels
and watercolor. Below is an excellent photo I came across
of the Atlantic scheme TBF's. I liked the weathered look of
#21 and wanted to represent it. In the background, #17
can be seen which this kit depicts.

Colors used: Dark Gull Gray, Medium Gray, Light Gray,
White, Interior Green

This is the best Avenger in 1:48 offered. The overall detail
and fit is very good. The only drawbacks to this kit are
poor instructions and tricky interior alignment when
closing the halves. Everything else is top notch. There are
additional aftermarket sets available to really enhance the
plane as well. I highly recommend this kit. However, since
it is a larger model, it will take some extra skill and
patience.
